More than 17 thousand vacancies
A total of 17727 posts will be recruited through SSC CGL Exam 2024. However, this is a tentative number which may change. Let us tell you that every year SSC conducts this exam through which lakhs of candidates try to get different jobs in the Central Government. Before proceeding, let us know the important details related to the exam.
Important information related to the exam
This is a national level exam and the eligibility to appear for it is to be an Indian citizen and a graduate in any discipline. Talking about the age limit, it varies according to the post. For selection, two stages of examination have to be given, Tier One and Tier Two. Tier One is a qualifying exam and this exam shortlists lakhs of applications.
Only those who pass Tier 1 appear for the next round of examination. Applications have started and the last date to apply is 24 July 2024. The exam date has not been announced yet but the exam can be conducted in the month of September-October.

Before appearing for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam, let us know its pattern. It contains questions from these sections –

English Comprehension
There are 25 questions from each of these sections which carry 50 marks. Thus, a total of 100 questions carrying 200 marks are asked. 60 minutes i.e. one hour is given to solve the exam. Candidates who clear this stage have to appear in the next stage i.e. Tier 2. Selection is final only after clearing Tier 2.
There is also negative marking
It is a good idea to start preparing for Tier 2 and Tier 1 exams together. 0.5 marks are deducted for giving a wrong answer in Tier 1. So keep in mind that you should attempt only those answers which you know. There are two papers in Tier 2 as well, out of which Paper 1 is compulsory for all. Whereas Paper 2 is conducted according to the post.
